TDS is directly related to the purity and quality of water and affects everything that consumes, lives in or uses water. It is important to measure the TDS of water for a variety of reasons. Testing the TDS will help determine if your filters and membranes are working effectively or require changing; an undesirable taste from high TDS could indicate the presence of toxic minerals; ensure the stable water conditions necessary for aquatic life as well as indicate the hardness of water which may cause scale build up in pipes and valves.
